German Mill Day

with free guided tours in the machine cellar at 11.00 a.m., 02.00 p.m. and 03.00 p.m.

Traditionally on Whitsun Monday, the German Mills and Mills Conservation Society (DGM) and its regional and regional associations invite to the “German Mills Day”. Then around 1200 wind, water, steam and engine mills open their doors nationwide. They turn the wings and water wheels, put the grinding works into operation, invite guests to guided tours and small celebrations with culture and snacks.
 
The paper mill in Homburg am Main will open its doors for interested visitors on this day. Guided tours take place free of charge in the original machine cellar of the Homburger Papiermühle. The machines powered by the mill wheel and drum screens, formerly used for the production of paper, are demonstrated during operation. At the wooden chest, it is shown how Papiermüller draws handmade paper even today.
